"We were a bit slower on the ball"
Vicente Moreno highlights the team's good work in defence, although he admits that the team lacked fluidity in the attack
The RCD Espanyol coach, Vicente Moreno, has acknowledged that his team was not quite at the same level as in its first outing against Albacete, although he did comment on the "willpower" shown by the players in their attempts to overcome a highly organised Mallorca. "In defence we didn't do too badly: I can't think of any moments where that wasn't the case. That said, in attack we weren't as fluid as on other occasions; we didn't have the finesse that the game required", he said.
The Blue and Whites coach went on to point out that “the reality is that we have very good players and we're expecting a lot from the guys who are starting." On a general level, and myself included, we were all a bit slow on the ball". Moreno also commented that the team had tried to win "from the start", but admitted that "it was tricky". “They were very focused and aggressive, and we had to pick up the speed to avoid fouls and steals. It seemed like they might slow down a bit, but then came the red card. It's not the result we were hoping for, but it was tricky. The players wanted it, they tried their best, but we weren't able to make anything of it. We didn't have a good day on the ball".
