Kumbulla: "We have to have a winning mentality"
The defender talks about Saturday's encounter with CD Leganés
As a busy month of LaLiga action gets underway for RCD Espanyol, Marash Kumbulla is determined for his team to get positive results -whilst also insisting that there is a long way to go this season.
“There are still many games left. We now have two very important games coming up. Leganés and Valladolid are two teams with the same objective as us, so picking up six points would be a big result," the defender said on Thursday.
“We have to have a winning mentality for these two games, but I am only thinking about Leganés right now; because if we think about more than one game we will lose the concentration we need for this one."
He stated that the Christmas break had been good for the team “to rest, to change our mindset and to start again with a winning mentality. On the training ground we are working well and I am confident in us."
Despite being on loan from Roma, Kumbulla explained that he is not thinking about the future but rather about "achieving the objective. I don't want anything to distract me from what is happening on the pitch. I'm only thinking about the match against Leganés this Saturday.”
He admitted that he expected to have “an important role” in the team, but that his adaptation has been “so quick” thanks to “the coach and all the staff who helped me from the beginning. I am playing a lot and I am very happy after having had a very difficult year due to an injury."
