González: "We're annoyed, but not dejected"
The coach analyses the draw with CD Leganés
RCD Espanyol coach Manolo González admitted that he was disappointed by the 1-1 draw with CD Leganés, and acknowledged that there is a certain anxiety to win in the squad.
“I'm disappointed. We had a very good first half. We were calm, finding the free man and creating clear attacking situations. We had things under control. Until the 70th minute we were doing well, but when we stopped having the ball and lost our calm is when the counterattacks came,” summed up the coach.
“you want to get upfield faster, and when we stopped taking care and being calm is when their chances came. It becomes no longer a question of you scoring, but rather the opposition creating chances. We did many things well to win, but we almost lost because of these situations. That has to be fixed.”
González indicated that “the team are annoyed, but not dejected. We are hurt, but eager to compete again and do things well. The game against Las Palmas was cruel, against Valencia too, and so was today. We have to work and get better every day, and we are doing that.”
Despite his anger at the draw, he was optimistic.
“I think we will get more points in the second half of the season and the team will stay in the Primera División. We have to be decisive in the areas. That leaves the game open. When you are anxious at the end, you leave spaces and the opponents can hurt you. We have to be decisive and not give up chances to score.”
