"We developed our game"
Vicente Moreno points out that it wasn't an easy game, and that Oviedo caused the team a number of difficulties
RCD Espanyol had the patience needed to take home three points against Oviedo. The Blue and Whites coach, Vicente Moreno, commented that the team didn't give up, and they were able to develop their game. “It wasn't an easy match, thanks to the opposition. Oviedo put us under a lot of pressure; they brought a lot of intensity and they played excellently, despite not winning. We didn't give up, but instead we put the work in and developed our game, and this is what we'll be facing: highly motivated, skilled teams that make things difficult for you and want to win, just like you.”
According to the Espanyol coach, “there's a lot of room for improvement, because we're still getting to know each other. As time goes on and we get to know each other better, we'll see better performance: I can see a lot of potential for improvement". Vicente says “We had a lot of hope pinned on winning again. We put ourselves under a lot of expectation, and the goal is to win all of the games we play, so it was important to get this win."
As for the changes to the starting line-up, Moreno is clear: “My aim is always to put together the best team of eleven players, and there are a lot of factors that go into making those decisions, such as the team you're playing, what stage of the season it is, the last game, a player's current form and their state of mind."
