"It was difficult for us to adapt to what the game demanded"
Vicente Moreno said at a press conference on the team's first defeat in LaLiga
Vicente Moreno had already warned pre-game that scoring in Vallecas was tricky. The Espanyol coach appreciated his team's game during the visit to Rayo Vallecano's field.
The coach acknowledged that "it was difficult for us to adapt to what the game demanded." One of the circumstances was the Vallecas pitch: “It is not an excuse, far from it, but the pitch was not right for us to circulate the ball as much as we like. We did not adapt to that circumstance.”
In the game "there was a lot of equality, and spaces did not appear." Moreno also commented that the team always wants to "nail it: have ten or fifteen opportunities, circulate the ball well, gain possession from the opponent, in everything."
The blue and whites' coach calls for calm: “Every game will be a story. Of course we want to play better than we played today: both me and the players. I wish we could finish the league without defeats, with a clean sheet, but we knew that this would not be the case."
There is little time for recovery, because on Wednesday the team receives Mirandés. “We will try to improve a lot to win on Wednesday. We have to make our way and we are aware of the difficulty.”
