Gil: "We have to fight to the fullest"

The defender looks at the team's recent form

RCD Espanyol defender Óscar Gil spoke to Espanyol Media on Wednesday, touching on the recent defeat to Sevilla FC and the upcoming fixture against Real Sociedad.

Gil said, “We are hurt, because it was an important time for us when we played against Sevilla FC. We had just achieved a very important victory away to Athletic Club. We came into the match with a lot of desire to take our first home win, but everything became more difficult in the first half due to mistakes that we cannot afford to make."

"The team's reaction was very good: We had a chance to equalise and I think that if we had scored, we could even have turned the scoreline around," Gil stated.

He also commented, "Since the new coach has come in, effort, commitment, sacrifice have been demanded of us. We have to give everything on the pitch, but we are lacking that defensive security that we want. We have to keep going and improve, in order for the results to come."

Finally, asked about the match against Real Sociedad, he explained, "It's going to be a tough game. They are strong at home. We were able to have an incredible game in Bilbao a fortnight ago, in which we were able to withstand the suffering. We have to fight to the fullest."
