Gil: "We are united, strong and convinced of our abilities"
The RCD Espanyol player explains how the squad have reacted to defeat against Rayo Vallecano
RCD Espanyol are ready to put the LaLiga Matchday 2 result against Rayo Vallecano behind them, as the squad focus on a big game on Sunday night. A 10pm CEST kickoff sees Los Pericos take on reigning champions Real Madrid, a fixture that player Óscar Gil is relishing. He spoke to the media on Tuesday to give his thoughts on the mood within the group.
"The dressing room is good. We are united, strong, convinced of our abilities and already thinking about next Sunday's game," he stated.
Analysing the loss against Rayo, he pointed out that “our first 30 minutes were incredible, although I would take away our entire first half. Unfortunately, after the goal that we conceded from a free kick, it turned into another type of game. However, we kept pushing and we hit the woodwork three times. We just lacked fluidity in the final third of the pitch. What I will take away from the game is the idea that the team persist over and over again and try to improve with each game."
"There is no better way to follow up a defeat like we suffered the other day than to play at home again, in front of our fans, and show them that we can give them victory."
