D. Gómez: "We know what we have to do to compete"
The new signing talks about the challenge ahead
Dani Gómez spoke to Espanyol Media this week to reflect on the club's first win of the season, his adaptation to the group and more.
Asked about the victory over Athletic Club on LaLiga Matchday 4, he said that "The team deserved a result like that. The squad is very committed. What has caught my attention the most since I arrived here is the dedication of all the players, of the coaching staff, to bring together a group of people who work as one unit."
The striker went on to explain that “my teammates have given me a very good welcome. I am clear about what the coach is asking of me. I don't care where on the pitch I play, because what I want is to help the team. I'm very happy to be here."
Next up is a game against Sevilla, and Gómez is taking nothing for granted.
“They aren't on a good run, but Sevilla are Sevilla. They are a very difficult, competitive team who play in the Champions League, and they will make things very tough for us. We know what to do to compete in the game, to try to win and we will use our strengths to be able to get something positive from the match.”
“We know that the fans will always be there for us. All the Pericos are excited. Although the results have not come at home for us, we have seen a good Espanyol and we hope to be able to take our first three points at home for them. We want a win in front of our fans," he concluded by saying.
