"We will always go out to win"
Manolo González is focused on the three points in his first home match against CD Tenerife
Having opened his tenure as men’s head coach with a win, Manolo González approach’s Saturday’s home debut against CD Tenerife with the same mindset.
RCD Espanyol have 11 finals to play in the fight for automatic promotion, as they welcome the Canary Islands side to the Stage Front Stadium on Saturday.
González said, “We will always go out to win, I have said that from the first day. I saw it myself in La Romareda and we are going to try to do that every week. We know that, at home with the fans in our favour, it is very important. I know that the fans will be with us to the end and we have to reciprocate that”.
The coach continued, “We have to fight until the last minute and give our all for each ball. We are without a few players but I am lucky to have good squad depth, along with players from the B team, who can help the team. It is time for everyone to be prepared to get the three points and to compete, because they are the protagonists”.
Espanyol will be without Keidi Bare, who is away with the Albanian national team on international duty, while Brian Oliván is suspended for Saturday’s encounter. Nonetheless, the Mágico have the majority of the team available to go for the win.
González concluded, “It would be wonderful to debut here with a win just as the other day in La Romareda, but if we can win, I will be very happy for the players, for the Club and for all those who are suffering with Espanyol. I would like people to come home happy and proud of their team”.
