González: "This gives you a boost on a mental level"
The coach looks back on the win over Real Valladolid
RCD Espanyol coach, Manolo González, acknowledged in his post-match press conference that the victory against Real Valladolid was vital, saying "It wasn't all or nothing, but it was a very important game and on a mental level it gives you a boost.”
“Now we have to take a step forward away from home, go to Sevilla and compete as we do at home. We have to attack the games a lot more, be a bit more experienced, and, perhaps, push a bit more. I'm very happy that we got through today's game with a win, which was the important thing," he commented.
"It wasn't Espanyol's best game. It went all the way. We looked for the win, but we have to defend much better."
The coach explained why he withdrew Pol Lozano from the action.
"Pol hasn't trained for almost two weeks to get to the game. When it's one day without training, okay, but it's many days in a row, which doesn't allow you to get to 90 minutes out of a player.”
He also expressed that he is confident of getting the best from Edu Expósito: “Today he was very good, too, when he came on. He is starting to get into the rhythm of the game. And that will help us, because in the end he has that skill and that calm that perhaps others don't have, which means that the opposition can’t take the ball away from him."
