Calero: "We have to keep picking up points"
The player's view after a vital win in LaLiga
Having briefly had time to enjoy their latest victory, RCD Espanyol now regroup to focus on their next LaLiga game. They play Sevilla FC on Saturday, and defender Fernando Calero says that the side are prepared for what is coming up.
"Both joy and disappointment last a short time in the world of football. We are already thinking about Saturday’s match. The win against Real Valladolid was vital, because it was against a direct rival, but we have to keep picking up points. This Saturday we have a new opportunity to do that, and we are going to go all out for it," he told the media on Monday.
He insisted that the team was “convinced” of what they had to do.
“Giving 100%, we can beat anyone. With a victory, everyone is reassured, happier and has more confidence in their work”.
"The league table is very tight. A small gap had opened up before Christmas and now it has closed again. There are more teams involved in the relegation battle. That is good, because anyone can have a good or bad run and get dragged into it."
Finally, he stressed that Sevilla, the next opponents, "are a great team, but we remain confident of getting something positive from this away trip."
