Tejero: "This could be a turning point to the season"

The midfielder comments on the upcoming game against Sevilla FC

RCD Espanyol's win over Real Valladolid has restored confidence to the team, and they prepare for the fixture against Sevilla with increased optimism.

Álvaro Tejero was insistent on this in a Wednesday press conference, and stressed that “it is always a good opportunity to win. This could be a good turning point to the season for us, coupled with the win the other day. Winning would reaffirm the good feelings that we are having."

The defender insisted that “we are all aware that it will be a difficult season. Our objective is to keep the team in the Primera División. We give our all every day and we all contribute as best we can. We have to stay in the Primera División and we still have to give more as a team."

He also argued that “we have to take a step forward away from home. It is no use winning three games if you then lose ten. It's difficult to see anyone getting out of the relegation battle before the end, and now we are going to Sevilla, a demanding ground. If we are able to withstand them, I'm sure we can win."

Finally, he stated that "we need, perhaps, to believe in ourselves a little more. We have to take that step forward away from home. We have to remain calm, serene and show our personality. If we add to that the support that the fans are giving us, then with that unity we can win games."
