Vilhena: "I am very happy to play for this fantastic club"
The loan signing is officially presented
Having been announced as a new winter transfer market arrival for RCD Espanyol, Tonny Vilhena was officially presented on Thursday at the Auditori Juan Segura Palomares.
The Dutchman expressed his excitement at joining the club, stating in his online unveiling: “I want to thank everyone who has made this possible. I am very happy to play for this fantastic club. I have spoken with friends who have played here and they have told me that they have great fans, a great stadium and that Barcelona is an incredible city."
Vilhena joins Espanyol on loan and considers himself to be a versatile player, who can contribute a lot to the team.
"I can play in different positions, wherever the coach needs," he explained.
"I feel in good shape, but I need game time in order to get on the pace. I think I can help with my experience."
Although he has not yet been able to meet his teammates, besides Keidi Bare -with whom he has previously coincided- he was able to take in the team's most recent game at the Nuevo Mirandilla.
“I was watching the game against Cádiz. We fought against an adverse situation and gave a good showing of ourselves. It's important to show people that we can play well and score goals,” he commented, adding that he is motivated for the coming contests.
“We shouldn't be afraid of anyone. We have a good team. We have to approach each game like a final. We want to be among the best,” Vilhena concluded.
