Vilà: “RCD Espanyol have made me grow”
Dídac Vilà says goodbye to the club where he made his name
Didac Vilà leaves RCD Espanyol this summer, bringing to an end his fourth spell at the club. Having joined at Alevín B level and played 16 seasons for the club, he bid farewell in a ceremony held at the Juan Segura Palomares auditorium at the RCDE Stadium. There, he received the club insignia from CEO, Mao Ye Wu, and a commemorative shirt from Rafa Marañón and Joan Capdevilla.
“This is the most difficult speech I have written so far," he began by saying. “That 10 year old dreamer, wearing a blue and white shirt, had the honour of playing for the first team. This club have made me grow as a person and as a player. I want to bid farewell to a stadium where I have dreamed so much, and to this set of fans. Without them we would be nobody. I will always carry them in my heart."
"It is very difficult to choose a favourite moment of my time here. I would probably say my debut at the RCDE Stadium in the starting XI, which ended with a 1-0 win against Athletic Club."
"It was an honour to wear the captain's armband. I had always wanted to do that. There are many years and many moments to choose from, but I was the happiest player in the world here."
