Marc Navarro, Óscar Melendo and Aarón Martín, happy after renewing their contracts
The players of the Academy are very important for Espanyol’s project. Marc Roca, Aarón Martín, Óscar Melendo and Marc Navarro have made their debut with the first team this season. Today, Melendo, Aarón and Navarro have staged one of the most special moments in the year in a very moving act.
“Everything has gone very fast. One year ago I was being operated and all the effort I had to do has been rewarded. Thank you to everybody. We are here thanks to Quique’s confidence. He believes in the players of the Academy. Score for Espanyol was one of the best moments of my life. Playing in the First Division means that my dream has become true and knowing that I have achieved it makes me very happy. Everybody dreams with playing in Europe, but when the season ends we will see. People have to have dreams and fight for them”, said Navarro.
“The League is very long and I have to keep improving. I can put passion. Making my debut with my supporters was fantastic. Getting to the First Division is difficult but it is harder to stay. You must work hard and have passion”, said Aarón.
“I have become a player here in Espanyol. Humility is crucial and working every day. One of the best moments was when the manager called me to make my debut. We all work to try to get that level. You must work, never give up and take advantage of the opportunity when you have it”, said Melendo.
The CEO of the club, Ramon Robert, has said that it was an exciting day. “They have signed for many years and with high clauses. We said that the players of the Academy would be important for us and we can see it today and with Marc Roca’s performance”, he said. The football director, Jordi Lardín, has defined the three players. “For me is a special day because for the first time as football director I am here to introduce the renewals of three players of our Academy. Melendo is a great player and person, Aarón is a special player and Navarro is pure talent. They are two fundamental factors: the quality of our players and the courage of our technical staff”, he said.
