Tejero: "In a lot of games we have deserved a little more"
The RCD Espanyol player talks to the media
Álvaro Tejero spoke to the media on Wednesday and, whilst he would address the upcoming LaLiga fixture for RCD Espanyol, he would first offer his support for all those affected by the DANA flash flooding in Spain.
“On behalf of the entire squad, the coaching staff and the club, we want to send our support and solidarity to the people of Valencia. These are very tough times in the face of this tragedy. We hope to be able to help and we send our strength to them,” he said at the start of his press conference.
Inevitably, the first question regarded the possibility of the suspension and postponement of the match against Valencia CF.
“Until it is official, we will continue working as if there were a match. If it were to be suspended, we would have almost three weeks before we compete again, but also many more training sessions to work and continue improving.”
Without knowing whether the next match will be against Valencia or Girona at the end of the month, he commented that “we have to dedicate our efforts to continuing to work. Regardless of the opponents, we always go out with the intention of winning. Now we have a stage of the calendar in which we face rivals closer to us in the standings, and we have to maintain the desire to do well, to pick up a run of wins.”
"It's been difficult for us to win away from home, but as the minutes go by we feel better on the pitch. In a lot of games we have deserved a little more, but this division is so demanding,” he insisted.
For Tejero, so far this season “we are seeing that all the teams are competing. We have to focus on ourselves and try to win games. There are many teams close together and if you win two games in a row you find yourself in the mid-table, but if you lose them, you get closer to the danger zone. We have to get three points as soon as possible.”
On his own form, the RCD Espanyol player commented that “little by little I am adapting to what the coach asks of me. In the last few games I am playing at my best. Whenever I have the opportunity to be on the pitch, I will help in every way I can.”
