González: "The whole team have to be organised"
The coach previews the game against Real Valladolid
Espanyol will be looking for three important points this Friday in their match against Valladolid. Coach Manolo González spoke in a press conference on Thursday, and said that he hopes that the team recover their effectiveness, that they keep organised and that they break out of the relegation zone.
“It would be a good moral boost. Mentally it would be a good lift in confidence for the next match. For that to happen, we have to keep a clean sheet again and, if we have the option, kill the match off as soon as possible.”
Likewise, he explainsed that “for a team like us, being organised is fundamental. But the whole team have to be organised. Without that, it is very tough, but if we do it, we will have a chance of winning,” he summarised.
On the team's new arrival, he said that “I hope that Roberto Fernández can be registered tomorrow, because it is purely a matter of validating his licence. He is a player who works hard and competes well. He can give us something different between now and the end of the season.”
Regarding Ünüvar and his departure, he pointed out that “it's been a matter of adaptation, of his youth, and it has been harded for him."
In terms of players returning to action, González stated that "Veliz is recovering his form from the start of the season, and Edu Expósito is getting better every day. We prioritise giving him quality minutes, and that they do not cause him wear and tear after his long-term injury.”
On Real Valladolid, he commented that “they are a direct rival and mentally this match is important. You have to know how to play and not lose control of the match. The other day they competed really well. They are a team that have used one formation against Girona and another against Real Betis. That means that they adapt to different formations."
Finally, regarding the support of the fans, he argued that “our supporters know how difficult this year will be. And their support is fundamental for us remaining in the Primera División next year. We have to give our all in every match and make sure that people leave proud of the team's effort.”
