Tejero and Romero officially presented

The pair talk at their official unveiling

Álvaro Tejero and Carlos Romero were officially presented on Thursday morning as RCD Espanyol players. Accompanied by the club CEO, Mao Ye, and the sports director, Fran Garagarza, they expressed their satisfaction at their arrival.

The sports director acknowledged that it was his turn to “introduce Álvaro Tejero for the second time."

"I already did it at Éibar, and now I am doing it here. He is a mature player, who gives us versatility. We already tried to sign him year, but it couldn't be done. He is young and is a vertical fullback. He has fit in from the first minute and we understand that he will give us what we need.”

"We are looking for players with energy and with hunger, who see that they can take a leap forward in their career. We have to have a lot of competitiveness in all areas.”

 

During the presentation, Álvaro Tejero pointed out that “my first option was always Espanyol. That was clear. I am very happy to be at such a big club. I have come here to work every day and leave everything out there. I am at the right club, which is also where it deserves to be. I don't want to waste this opportunity."

For the defender, “the enthusiasm we have is tremendous and that has to be noted. This is our goal, starting today. In LaLiga, no one gives anything away for free, so we have to be strong.”

Romero highlighted that “choosing Espanyol was easy. It was the best choice at this point in my career. I want to enjoy being at a big, demanding club. I hope it will be a very nice season and that we achieve our goal. I couldn't hesitate when I knew that I could go to a big club, one of those that you've been watching all your life in LaLiga."

“There are no easy games. It doesn't matter who we play, we have to give 100 percent because if we let our guard down, anyone can hurt us.”

“There is quality in the group, because without it you won't get promoted. There is plenty of talent to achieve the goal.”
