Sixth edition of LaLiga Genuine underway
RCD Espanyol Special began their season in the competition's first phase in Tarragona
This weekend saw the start of the new season for the RCDE Special in LaLiga Genuine.
The team led by Manel Algeciras and Xavi Tendero travelled to the traditional opening host of Tarragona to defend the title they won last season, with the aim of getting underway with three wins out of three.
The formalities began on Friday with the opening ceremony with all 46 participating teams paraded at the Nou Estadi Costa Dorada. Espanyol's tournament got underway the following morning with a comprehensive 4-0 win over Ibiza, before a victory of the same scoreline later that day against Levante EDI.
Espanyol not only made it three wins from three on Sunday morning, but by the exact same 4-0 scoreline again, this time defeating Sporting de Gijón to bring an end to a successful first phase of the tournament.
The team sits top of the league but, beyond the results, we must highlight the enthusiasm, joy and solidarity experienced on this opening day of the league.
The next phase will be held in Cádiz at the beginning of February 2024.
