Season balance and projections for the new one
Robert Ramon details different points of the new Espanyol’s project
CEO Espanyol, Robert Ramon, has attended the media to examine results of last season plus some of the new course 2016-2017 projections. After thanking the fans support offered throughout the season, he said that one of the objectives is to comply with "perception" that season ticket holders have on the project that is starting in the RCD Espanyol.
"We want a financially solid club. If we have economic viability, we will have sport viability. We will work further to achieve social expansion and good results", he said.
An aspect that the new Board of Directors has to work on is that of the financial situation. "Since his arrival they have been commissioned to carry out a debt restructuring that has been done through credits of Rastar Group. They also told us that they are going to take part of the capital increase: some credit conversion and other monetary measures". Robert recalled that in the next Extraordinary Shareholders General Meetingof there will be made an increase of capital of 150 million euros. "We want to start a new stage completely clean", he said.
The CEO, on the other hand, has revealed that the club will enter about 46 euros million in television rights; more than 12 million than last season although there are still some values that must be structured with the League. "The more people that comes to the RCDE Stadium, the more we earn. The more partners we have, the more we enter and the better classified we get in the standings, the better for the club. This year we will earn 46 million, but this amount has to continue to increase. It gets better when you are in the top ten and we have to be in that area. Anyway, we can’t rely on television rights: we need to get more revenue from the exploitation of the Stadium".
Another challenge for the new Board of Directors is to ensure that the stand of animation Stadium RCDE becomes a reference. "We have taken the decision to unify; there is one and it has to become a benchmark in the competition. At one time we had the best tier of animation and we have to have it again”. Robert said that the area for the visiting fans will be changed to a step higher. Finally, in this context, it is reported that this summer the grass of Cornellà-El Prat and training fields and mainly at Dani Jarque’s Training Complex will be changed.
Robert said that the club aims to promote the hospitality, commercial areas of RCDE Stadium and internationalisation of the club passing, among other initiatives, to open football school in Asia.
Finally, it has revealed that this season has grown by 7% in ticket sales and that the objective is to try to reach 10%.
