Sara Monforte appointed RCD Espanyol Femenino coach
The former player signs a two-year deal
RCD Espanyol have reached an agreement for Sara Monforte to take charge of the women's first team for the next two seasons. She joins after having coached Villarreal CF for the last six campaigns.
Monforte began her coaching career six years ago, after retiring as a player at Zaragoza CFF. In her first season the team were promoted to Reto Iberdrola. Two seasons later she achieved promotion with Villarreal to the top flight for the first time in their history. During 2021/22 and 2022/23 she managed to keep the team in the Primera Division, before relegation last term.
Monforte returns to RCD Espanyol, for whom she played between the 2009 and 2013 seasons. In her four years at the club, she won two Copa de la Reina trophies.
The new coach will be presented in the coming days.
