Sánchez: "I have come to give everything and take Espanyol back to the Primera Division"
The new signing talks in his official presentation
'Salvi' Sánchez was officially presented as an RCD Espanyol player in an event held at the Stage Front Stadium, and he was clear about his intentions and objectives for this new stage in his career.
"I have come to give everything and take Espanyol back to the Primera Division," he told the media, although noting that "This division plays 42 matchdays and it will be a very long season. We all have to be united knowing that this is important for us achieving our target."
Sánchez acknowledged that he had spoken with Luis García and revealed that "I chose Espanyol because this is a great club and because the project is very big. We might be in the Segunda División now, but we are all going to work together so that Espanyol return to the top flight."
He also pointed out that “This is the biggest challenge that I have set for myself in my career. It is a huge club and I am in the biggest project I have had so far. I arrive with the maximum enthusiasm and desire."
"There is so much equality in this division. Take Mirandés: They won on Matchday 1 and then lost their second game, which shows the difficulty present. For me, the goal is to go game-by-game. You have to believe in what you know and how you work, then keep going like this."
RCD Espanyol CEO, Mao Ye, in his welcome to the player, explained that "last Saturday he gave us his support from off the pitch, and now we hope he will help us out from on it."
Lastly, Sporting Director Fran Garagarza said that Sánchez “is a proven player who will give us many things: Experience, speed, versatility and passing to create chances. We are very satisfied. He played with Rayo on the first matchday of the season and, immediately afterwards, he was with us. I thank him for the effort he has made to come here."
