S. Gómez: “We’re clear about what we want”
The defender explains the team's fighting spirit ahead of Sunday's trip to Getafe
Sergi Gómez explained the team’s strong desire to win against Getafe on Sunday.
RCD Espanyol travel to the capital for an important match in the league, currently one point adrift from safety in 19th place. Speaking to Espanyol Media on Thursday, the defender was clear that the team are motivated to get what would be a vital victory.
Gómez said, “We have a very important match ahead this Sunday, we’re really psyched up to get the three points. The team continues to be motivated, we are clear about what we want and what we need to do. We are very aware of the relevance of the three points”.
Espanyol have drawn their last two LaLiga matches but also remain unbeaten in five matches across all competitions, though Diego Martínez’s men will be vying for the win when they travel to the Estadio Coliseum Alfonso Pérez.
Gómez continued, “We understand the concern, but we are aware that a win would change the situation, so we are focused on getting the win and to continue motivating the fans to support us as they have done up to now.
“We have plenty of quality and players to face it and get these three points. We are focused on the type of match that will take place”.
