RCD Espanyol's U-16 to participate in Al Abtal International Cup
The club will compete with the best youth systems in Europe
RCD Espanyol's U-16 team will participate in the next edition of the Al Abtal International Cup (AAIC), which will take place during the 2024/25 season, organised by Future Falcons.
The team will face top-level European sides such as Internazionale, Porto, Dinamo Zagreb and Standard Liège. Other youth teams from the best European teams, such as Real Madrid, FC Barcelona, Ajax, Juventus and Roma, will participate in this competition.
Representatives from RCD Espanyol and Future Falcons finalised the agreement in a meeting held at the RCDE Stadium.
RCD Espanyol CEO, Mao Ye Wu, the deputy general manager of the club, Toni Alegre, the director of processes and Big Data football, Unai Ezkurra, and head of youth programmes Albert Saus were joined by Future Falcons' general manager, Ghassan Felemban, and technical director, Romeo Jozak, plus the general manager of Almosafer Sports, David Prat, to agree the deal.
This agreement is also the first step towards establishing a real link with football in Saudi Arabia, which should provide new opportunities in the future.
