RCD Espanyol Gala de Penyes held at RCDE Stadium
Personalities and Supporters Groups receive honours at the annual event
The RCDE Stadium hosted the 22nd edition of the RCD Espanyol Gala de Penyes fan gala this past Saturday, as the annual event brought together more than 230 people, representing 65 of the club's supporters groups. The day highlighted the work of those who, with their effort and passion, contribute to strengthening the Espanyol spirit and making the club better.
The event was chaired by Jordi de Planell, who acted as master of ceremonies. One of the most anticipated moments of the night was the presentation of the traditional awards to the protagonists of the 2023/24 season.
The award winners were as follows:
Best Male Player: Joan García
Best Female Player: Lice Chamorro
Breakout Player: Rafael Bauza
Veteran: Alberto Lopo
Grassroots Football: RCD Espanyol Juvenil A
Penyes Promotion: El 1900
In addition, the night featured recognition of the great names that have been fundamental for the club and the supporters' groups. Various insignias were awarded to personalities and supporters' clubs that have demonstrated their loyalty and dedication to Espanyol over the years, such as the club's former communications director, Sergio Aguilar, and the PBB Castellbell i El Vilar, who were recognised with the silver insignia.
Daniel Sánchez Llibre, former president of the club, was acknowledged for his leadership and commitment to the organisation.
Tribute was also paid to the supporters' groups that are celebrating significant anniversaries this year:
PBB Torredembarra i Baix Gaià and Quixots Blanc-i-Blaus, with 25 years of history, received the silver insignia.
PE Valls i Comarca, PBB Reus i Comarca and PBB Montcada i Reixac were awarded the gold insignia for their 50 years of support for RCD Espanyol.
