Quique Sanchez Flores, new Espanyol’s coach
He will sign for three seasons and will be presented on Monday at the RCDE Stadium
Quique Sánchez Flores (Madrid, 02.05.1965) will coach Espanyol the next three seasons after the agreement reached in the recent hours between the coach and the club. Sánchez Flores will be presented next Monday, June 13th, at 1200 hours in the auditorium of the RCDE Stadium, for the media accredited by the club.
As Angel Gómez, sporting director of the entity, Quique Sanchez Flores will sign for three seasons (2019) consolidating the beginning of Espanyol’s sports project in this new and exciting stage for all our fans. In the next few days the club will confirm Sánchez Flores’ staff.
Quique Sánchez Flores has a great experience both as a player and on the bench. The right full back made his debut in the First Division with Valencia before joining Real Madrid. Sánchez Flores, former Spanish international, finished his career in the R. Zaragoza. As a player he won a League and the European Under-21 with the Spanish National Team.
After starting his training career as a coach in the youth teams of Real Madrid, he made his debut in the First Division coaching Getafe. His good work in front of Getafe allowed him to take a step forward and sign for Valencia; team that qualify for two consecutive seasons for the Champions League. His success continued at Benfica –he won the Portuguese League Cup- League and carried on at Atlético Madrid where he won the UEFA Europa League and the Europe Supercup. He also won titles during his stay in the United Arab Emirates (Cup UAE (2012), President's Cup UAE (2013). The last experience as coach of Quique Sánchez Flores was his debut in the Premier League with Watford and he reached the semifinals of the FA Cup.
Therefore, RCD Espanyol is proud to incorporate a successful coach and so prestigious to lead the first team in this new project.
