Philadelphia Union academy visit the Dani Jarque
The under-16s of the MLS franchise and RCD Espanyol played a friendly
On Tuesday night, a friendly match between RCD Espanyol’s under-16s (Cadete A and B) hosted the Philadelphia Union’s under-16s at the Ciutat Esportiva Dani Jarque.
The MLS youth side has been touring Europe throughout the month playing against teams including Atlético de Madrid, Athletic Club de Bilbao, Deportivo de la Coruña, Real Sociedad, Getafe, Gent and Toulouse.
The match between Philadelphia Union and Espanyol ended with a narrow defeat for our young pericos, who dominated in the first half but were unable to translate the chances into goals. In the second half, Philadelphia managed to take the lead and the result stayed as it was.
These friendlies provide an enriching experience for our players, learning the style of football from other countries and the universality of the beautiful game. Philadelphia Union is a club that stands out for its development of local talent and has a strong fanbase committed to the local community.
