Moreno: "We will have to be alert against Elche"
The RCD Espanyol coach looks ahead to a Monday night game with Elche
RCD Espanyol play on Monday night at the RCDE Stadium, welcoming the visit of Elche on LaLiga Matchday 20. Coach Vicente Moreno talked to the media in a press conference ahead of the fixture.
"The best part of the season is still to come, but also the most difficult," he explained.
"The most important game of the season is that which we will play on Monday, because it's our next match. We can't focus on anything that comes after that."
On the game itself, Moreno commented that: “There are always aspects to improve. Overall, our form is good and we can be satisfied. It is what we do from now on that counts. We drew away to Elche. If we can win this one, it will mean that we have improved something. Repeating what we achieved at home in the first half of the season is difficult, but away we have quite a large margin for improvement."
The duel at the Martínez Valero ended 2-2, and since then Elche have replaced coach Fran Escribá with new incumbent in the dugout, Francisco Rodríguez.
“When a coach is replaced, there are always some nuances that are different," commented Moreno. "Due to the whims of football, they did not get results in games when they deserved to, but now they are an equally competitive team that are getting very good results. We will have to be alert."
Asked about absentees for the match, Moreno said that he himself was not 100% sure as to who he would have available.
“This changes every day because of the issue of COVID. We have some players out who still have to undergo tests, and others with physical problems."
