Moreno: "We missed out on a golden chance"
The coach reviews a tough night at the RCDE Stadium
RCD Espanyol coach, Vicente Moreno, spoke after the defeat against Elche in Cornellà-El Prat, and assessed the performance in the Matchday 20 fixture.
“We started the game well. However, for the first goal that we conceded, there were a series of mistakes. The feeling was that in 14 minutes we had given them two goals, and the game became tougher. With the scoreline against us, we became nervous, but we regrouped and we looked for goals. We found one with the move for Loren Morón that was disallowed for offside, and then RDT's goal arrived. In the second half we tried everything to equalise. If you concede two goals from two moves, it gets tough; it has been a hard day," he summarised.
“We looked for the win and we tried hard. We lacked forcefulness in the area, which prevented us from finishing off some of the more dangerous moves. We had a couple of chances for Raúl de Tomás which, under normal circumstances, would have ended up in a goal. When you need to score two goals to at least pull level, it's difficult. We missed out on a golden chance to get closer to those at the top, get into a good position and get away from those below us," he said.
“The line between winning and losing is a very fine one. We helped the opposition to cross that line. If we hadn't conceded those two goals from those first two shots, we would have won the game: they are avoidable actions. We didn't do what we had in mind, but we tried with all our might."
