Moreno: "We have three important points at stak"
The coach's preview of RCD Espanyol's game against Getafe
RCD Espanyol return to the RCDE Stadium this weekend, for a Saturday fixture against Getafe. Coach Vicente Moreno addressed questions from the media in his pre-match press conference in the run-up to the LaLiga contest.
“We have three important points at stake. It is as simple as that. The spirit in the team is the same as always; we want to win and have a good game. We attach the utmost importance to every match. We have also given that same importance to the previous games, but from there they can go well or badly," he told journalists.
“After you lose, morale is always a bit low. As the week progresses you focus on the next game. In football the feeling changes when you win, and that's what we are thinking about: Winning."
Of this weekend's opponents, Moreno said that “Getafe have not won away. That shows the difficulty that all teams have to do so. They are not the worst away team, either. Now we have to worry about ourselves and try to do things well. They are a team who are hard to beat."
The coach also refused to define Saturday's game as a 'final,' explaining that "Finals are when the next day there is nothing more. After tomorrow, the competition will continue. What we have to do tomorrow is win and not think about anything else. We face every game fully focused. We want to win it and we have prepared conscientiously."
"Despite us not winning against Barça or Sevilla, we had the same players and the same XI. Sometimes things don't work out and everything goes well for the opposition. Against Villarreal, nothing came off."
After revealing that David López and Manu Morlanes will both miss the Matchday 27 contest, Moreno fielded a question on RCD Espanyol's targets.
"I'm not the one who has to set the club's objective. What we would like is to win LaLiga, but that is very difficult and we have to be realistic. You can't fool people. Right now, what we have to do is win tomorrow's game and achieve our first objective. Then we'll see how far we can go, but first of all we have to get the three points for tomorrow."
