Moreno: "We have the same needs as our opponents"
The coach previews Wednesday night's game against Alavés
RCD Espanyol coach Vicente Moreno wants his side to continue picking up points, in order to mathematically certify their top flight survival for another season. The coach spoke ahead of Wednesday night's game against Alavés, and emphasised that the "we will be going out there to win, because we have the same needs as our opponents."
“We want to finish as high up the table as possible, and in front of us we will have a team who want to continue in the Primera Division. It's unpleasant to be in that position, but we have to focus on ourselves. Winning would allow us to stay in a good position and we have to hang on to that," he insisted.
"We cannot forget that in their last five home games they have beaten Valencia, Rayo and Villarreal, and drawn with Sevilla. That shows how difficult this match is.”
"We have to win tomorrow's game. Anything else is far away in my mind, and we do not want to waste energy along the way. Let's focus on tomorrow and the intense week ahead of us."
The coach also took the opportunity to comment on Raúl de Tomás' absence from the starting lineup against Osasuna this past weekend, saying that “the matter is closed and discussed. It is an issue that has been settled and we have to move on to something else."
