Moreno: "We have many things at stake"
The coach's pre-match press conference ahead of the game against CA Osasuna
In his pre-match press conference, RCD Espanyol coach Vicente Moreno talked about this Sunday's game against Osasuna, which takes place at the RCDE Stadium at 6:30pm and could see the team confirm top flight survival.
"We need our fans to help us. We have many things at stake. It needn't be necessary for us to be in a critical situation for us to stick together. Our safety has not yet been mathematically certified, and the team that hold ninth place are Osasuna; if we beat them, we will be one win away from them. They are the sixth best away team in the league and we are the seventh best at home. I am not making an appeal to the fans, but we need them,” he declared.
Moreno commented that “the players are willing to do their best in these remaining four games, which take place over just 15 days. There are many circumstances that may not help, but we are professionals and we must be above all situations. We must perform. Some players are featuring with some discomfort, but I think we are in fairly good shape in that sense, and emotionally you are always much better when you come into a game off a winning run."
About Osasuna, he stated that “they are there on their own merits. They do things very well, with a very positive dynamic in everything they do. We have been fighting for similar positions all season, and in these final games they have hit the accelerator. We haven't won for three games, but we've visited Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid in that time, and we slipped up against Rayo. There are technology companies that say that their goal was offside. We must compete in a strong way and try to get to where Osasuna are."
