Moreno: "We deserved the win"

Vicente Moreno was very satisfied with his team's work in the 1-2 win over Valencia CF, and felt that his team were worthy victors in the New Year's Eve contest.

 

“We deserved it," he said in his post-match press conference. "Valencia took the lead, we calmed down and we found a way to win. I have to congratulate all the players because it was a deserved victory, on a great stage and against great opposition."

 

The coach insisted that "football is very capricious, and in other matches we have also deserved to win, but we achieved it today."

 

Moreno also called for calm, saying that “with 26 points we are not going anywhere yet. We have to achieve many more. The overall assessment of the campaign must be done at the end of the season, as now it seems a bit risky to me. I think that, taking into account last season as well, we are on the right path and have the excitement to continue to grow and improve, which will not be easy."

 

He gave special words of congratulations for Jofre Carreras, who came on and changed the game.

 

“He deserves what he achieved today, after the serious injury he suffered this last year. It has been a long time coming for him and he has worked hard, but I think he will always remember his debut in the Primera División."
