Moreno: "We are up against a side that have been very demanding"
The coach previews the game against Real Sociedad
RCD Espanyol coach Vicente Moreno gave a pre-match press conference this weekend, ahead of his side's Monday night fixture against Real Sociedad.
He avoided talking about 'virtual survival' posed by journalists, citing the need to ensure mathematical safety and remain focused on each upcoming game.
"We must continue picking up points until the end of the season. A good position in the table right now does not guarantee anything, and every time you go out onto the pitch you take a risk, so we need to try to win as many games as possible in what remains of the season," he explained.
Moreno confirmed that goalkeeper Diego López will not be a starter at Anoeta, after struggling with an injury in recent weeks. He will be waiting on the fitness of Raúl de Tomás and Nico Melamed, and will wait for the last training session of the week to find out if they can play a part in the fixture.
The coach hopes that the match in San Sebastián will be similar to the initial encounter between the two sides this season, stating that "it was a high level contest."
"We need to focus on ourselves, because we are up against a side that have been very demanding, have competed and have not made any complaints. It is true that they have important players out, but they also have very good players and a great coach. It will be a difficult game," he stated.
