Moreno: "Today was not our best game"
The coach reflects on the cup elimination
RCD Espanyol coach Victor Moreno reviewed his side's Copa del Rey elimination at the hands of RCD Mallorca, and told the press that “I take responsibility -today and always. The coach is the one who has to prevent this from happening."
“We didn't start well, although we finished the first half ok. In the second half it was a different story. We had chances, but we have to aspire to have more and to do more."
He continued by saying that “today, obviously, was not our best game. A reflection of this was a moment in which nothing was happening and we conceded a goal. In the second half we wanted to generate more chances. We have achieved that at times, but we made many mistakes and we didn't perform well. We weren't the team that we want to be."
The coach had no doubts about the validity of Puado's goal, which received a lengthy VAR check.
“Viewing the footage, they just needed to give the goal," he expressed.
“We were lacking many things. In the first half we had too many forced errors, but also others that were unforced. We have the capacity and enough players with personality to be more forceful."
“I am very hurt when I lose, always. In any competition and against any opposition. However, on Tuesday we have another game and this rollercoaster can be overcome by winning. You have to be humble and keep your head down, working hard and trying to improve."
