Moreno: "There are many incentives in the game for us to give everything"
The coach eyes victory against Sevilla on Matchday 25
Before RCD Espanyol's LaLiga Matchday 25 game against Sevilla, coach Vicente Moreno talked to the press about the upcoming contest.
The game comes off the back of a derby draw against FC Barcelona, in which Los Pericos were unlucky not to take the victory.
"We have to keep pushing. The other day we were very close to winning the match, and we know the difficulty that comes with these games. You also need a little bit of luck. The most important thing is to perform at our best level and insist. That's how we will find victory; we deserved another win a long time ago," he reflected.
"Our form is what it is, ahead of the visit of Sevilla. It's a difficult game that we face with the utmost motivation. When you beat opponents like them, it's still three points, but it gives a boost of happiness to the fans in the stands. There are many incentives in the game for us to give everything."
There will also be a strong attendance at the RCDE Stadium, where Espanyol have taken their best results this season.
"The club tell me that they are seeing a good response. It seems that there will be a high attendance. We hope that the atmosphere is similar to that of the other day, because when they get behind us we are stronger and more difficult to beat. In addition, we have Sevilla against us, the second best team in the competition."
"Sevilla are a very complete team, and are physically strong. Technically they have international level players. It's a mix that is working. We have to try to make them uncomfortable. If we want to win, we must also use our strengths. They are fighting for LaLiga, which says a lot."
The last time the two sides met, at the Sánchez Pizjuan, it ended 2-0 to Sevilla. Moreno feels that his side are capable of getting a better result.
"There have been many games in which the team have had chances and performed up to standard, but it's details that decide the final result. I have watched that game again, and we played well, whilst specific actions decided the result in favour of Sevilla. We did a lot of things well. We deserved more, although now it's absurd to think about it."
"We have to always be competitive, and when you lose to a certain opponent you have to want to win the second game, so that they don't beat you twice. It's an opportunity. We have some unfinished business and we have to convey that desire that we have to win."
