Moreno: "The important thing was to go through"
The coach analyses the win on penalties over Ponferradina
Having seen his side go through on penalties to the next round of the Copa del Rey, ousting a spirited Ponferradina, RCD Espanyol coach Vicente Moreno said in his post-match press conference that he had congratulated his players, and acknowledged that “it was not the game that we expected. He thought that some different things would happen on the pitch and, at times, we weren't comfortable. We started well and we had chances, and even in extra time we kept looking for victory, but we couldn't find it from open play."
"We had opposition in front of us who I knew would make us suffer. The important thing was to go through and, in that sense, we are happy."
The coach also stated that “today we suffered more than in the two previous rounds, although the results of both of those games were fair. Here, we had to win against a team who are doing things very well in the Segunda División."
"I think we have to be happy to have got into the next round. To go through, you have to suffer, and I think I made mistakes in seeing what was happening on the pitch. That caused the players to be uncomfortable. I insist that in extra time we deserved to have scored a few more goals. You can see in every game, in every tie, that the Copa del Rey is not easy. Now we have to focus on LaLiga."
