Moreno: "It was a deserved win"
The coach says that the victory against Celta Vigo gives his side "peace of mind" for the rest of the campaign
Having seen his side snatch a late winner against Celta Vigo, RCD Espanyol coach Vicente Moreno talked to the media at the RCDE Stadium to give his thoughts on a huge result for the team.
"This win gives us peace of mind ahead of the final stretch of the season. It was a very tough game. Celta Vigo are a side who have great players, and a way of playing that is almost unique in the Primera División," he told journalists.
"We worked hard and we suffered. There were some very good moments. At the end we had the success that we had lacked in other games. It was a deserved victory."
"We knew it was important to win. It doesn't mathematically take us to our first objective, of survival, but we are already very close. Now we have to focus on other things. We have to climb positions in the table. The goal is to catch up with the rivals ahead of us and see how far we can go."
Asked about the goalscorer, Wu Lei, the coach commented that: “I am very happy for Wu Lei. He is a player who has had an amazing predisposition to do everything we ask of him. It's true that he hasn't featured much in this final stretch of the season, but today he looked for a goal and found it."
Regarding the fitness of Raúl de Tomás, Moreno commented that his top scorer “reached the end of the game more tired than usual."
"We asked for more minutes than were necessary from him, because the player himself wanted to help."
