Moreno: “We needed to kill off the game”
The coach talks about the 1-1 draw with Levante
Vicente Moreno spoke after a 1-1 draw for RCD Espanyol with Levante, lamenting the fact that his team had come away with only a draw.
"We have picked up a point against a team that deserve to be higher up in the table, especially because they came into this game in good form."
The coach stressed that “we had the game where we wanted it,” after taking the lead through Javi Puado, but added that “we needed to finish it off. In the end we take away a point and we have to think about the next game now. We had the feeling of being able to win this one, but it got away from us - especially in the end, as it was a bit of a crazy game. Now we have to turn our focus to the next match. The season doesn't stop and we have to keep adding points to our tally.”
Moreno also commented on the injury to Diego Lopez, who had to make way for young rookie Joan Garcia during the game.
"He had some problems during the week and we had doubts about whether he was going to be able to participate. He had a strain that has given him a lot of trouble. We have decided to play him, but these situations can occur. For Joan, coming on in a game that was so frantic is difficult for a goalkeeper and you have to treat it with normality. Unfortunately, the move that led to the goal cost us two points, but it’s normal because all goals always come from some kind of error or improvable action.”
