Martínez: "We are going to Balaidos with a lot of confidence"

The coach previews the LaLiga season opener against Celta Vigo

The day before RCD Espanyol's LaLiga opener against Celta Vigo, coach Diego Martínez gave a press conference to discuss the summer activity so far, and the preparations for Saturday's trip to Balaidos.

"We want to be competitive, get the most out of the team and improve on our showings compared to previous games," said Martínez.

"We are still a team under construction. I believe in this project, I believe in these players and as people have said: Espanyol are all about belief, and we all have to have that faith and determination. As a team we want to be at our best and improve with every game."

The Galician coach also talked up Celta Vigo, saying that "they have outstanding players and a stadium where they demand a lot of you. The level of attention and concentration is key in such an evenly matched game, in which every detail counts for a lot. We want our virtues to ovecome those of the opposition. That is why the attitude and the desire to do things is non-negotiable. We are going there with a lot of confidence and with all the motivation in the world."
