Martinez: "The team competed against opponents who demand a lot from you"

The coach comments on the preseason draw with SSC Napoli

Diego Martínez was satisfied with the result achieved in the final preseason friendly against SSC Napoli. The coach thanked all the players for "their incredible effort" and assessed that it was achieved "in a match well above our current form, against top-level opponents."

However, he has also acknowledged that “we rushed things at times, but we have to congratulate ourselves because we responded to the rhythm required. The players were up to a maximum level of demand.”

Martinez also insisted on the idea that “the team competed against opponents who demand a lot from you. Preseason results don't worry me. The important thing is the feeling and what we have to improve. We need more peace of mind on the ball. We have to be patient until we incorporate everyone. We have to continue competing and making sacrifices; today the best example is Darder, who had stomach problems before the game, but wanted to play and ended up exhausted."
