González: "We have to improve, because mistakes are condemning us"
The coach talks after the loss to Sevilla FC
RCD Espanyol coach Manolo González talked about the 0-2 loss to Sevilla FC after the final whistle in the Friday night contest.
He commented that “the team started well, until the goal for Sevilla FC to make it 0-1. The difference in the match was Lukébakio. They got chances on goal three times and won the game. We got through on goal more, but we didn't score. The first goal that we conceded was a mistake; Král shouldn't have jumped then. The first goal was a goal from outside the box and the second was a shot through four people. We have to keep working, there's nothing else that we can do.”
González said that “it's normal for the fans to leave here angry. Although the result is too harsh and unfair, the fans are right because they come to see their team win and they didn't get that. I don't deceive people, and I said it would be a tough season. You have to understand the real situation that we have this season. We already warned everybody.”
The coach insisted that “we need to keep a clean sheet. Last year we managed that many times. We have to have the same mentality from the beginning to the end of the game. You have to be able to take the setbacks and have that mentality.”
“We have to improve, because mistakes are condemning us. I look at the games individually, not at January. We have to get points no matter what. We knew that this year was going to be tough. Next week we have to get points, no matter what. People won't believe it, but we believe within the squad that we can do it. With our virtues and our defects we can get through this,” he summed up.
