González: "We have things to correct"
The coach reviews the loss to Athletic Club
Manolo González acknowledged that RCD Espanyol did not compete at the level expected against Athletic Club, and expressed that he fully understood the disappointment after the match.
“We were not good. I am angry because the plan did not work out as we expected. The first goal left us very shaken, to be honest. When you don't press well, as we didn't in the first half, the opposition find it very easy. Today is a day to be self-critical.”
The coach insisted that “this should serve to make us realise where we are. It will be good for other teams, but not for us. You always have to give your best to get something out of a game, then if not, what happened against Athletic will happen again. You cannot give away a half in the Primera División, neither at home nor away, and even less so at a ground like this or in Madrid.”
He also recognised that “we have things to correct. We are angry and we are self-critical and we have to try to prevent it from happening again. What bothers me is the feeling. We have to pick ourselves up urgently and think about Sevilla.”
