González: "We are capable of winning against Valencia CF"
The coach reveals his expectations for the rescheduled game
Manolo González is determined for his RCD Espanyol side to take another victory at home, after the draw just a few days ago against Osasuna.
In his pre-match press conference before the game against Valencia CF, he insisted time and again on the value that these three points would have, “both on a mental level and in order to get out of the relegation zone."
“It is a game that we want to win and that we have to know how to approach. We are capable of winning. What we have to do is win and play a good game in order to achieve it. The best show we can provide is trying to get the three points.”
“All games are finals for me. I treat them that way. Every game is important and this is an opportunity for us to get three points. By winning, we get out of the relegation zone. We have to go for it. Going into Christmas out of the relegation zone would be very good for us in terms of motivation.”
He also recalled that “the other day, a draw was not enough for us, because we competed well."
"Since I arrived at the club I have not had an easy game. Both tomorrow and Sunday's games are two matches that can give us a boost. The team cannot fail. Every game is difficult. I already knew that this year would be tough. The only thing I want is for Espanyol to be in the Primera División next year, and I am going to give my all for that.”
Regarding Valencia CF, he warned that “a team that have beaten Betis 4-2 can never be a bad team. They have players with a lot of potential, a lot of quality. We have to do things well and forget about the standings, in order to focus only on the game. It is clear that if we leave ourselves unprotected, they will punish us. It will be difficult, but when we are in good form we can compete with anyone. I hope that tomorrow the three points stay here at home.”
