RCD Espanyol coach Manolo González considered the result against Atletico Madrid a positive one, as his side earned a draw away at the Civitas Metropolitano.

"It's a point that backs up the work done by the team. Until now, football had been a little unfair on us, because against Real Sociedad it was really cruel. This point is important because it lifts us -above all, having earned it at a ground like this," he told the media after the final whistle.

“We didn't start well in the opening minutes of the game. We readjusted some things and we improved. We defended better and were able to counterattack," he continued.

"In order to win here, you need to be lucky and to put away your chances. Mentally, we held on at a really tough ground, and I'm proud of the players. The points are the big thing, but the team is built on a good feeling. With patience and a cool head, we will keep growing, week after week. This point boosts our morale."
