González: "There are still 90 minutes left"
The coach's thoughts on the first leg defeat to Real Oviedo
Manolo González was unable to hide his annoyance with RCD Espanyol's defeat at the Carlos Tartiere to Real Oviedo, although he insisted in his post-match press conference that his side still have a chance of winning the tie.
“The goal to make it 1-0 has left us hurt for a while, but there are still 90 minutes left to get a result. We will come back in the second leg, from the first minute onwards.”
The coach recognised that the rematch “is huge because of the importance it has. It's a pity today that, with the game under control, they scored. Their goal left us hurt, just when we were comfortable.”
He also has no doubt that in the second leg the fans will once again play a leading role.
“We'll have what we saw the other day, but more. The travelling fans have already given everything here today. They know that we need them and they are necessary. They are our twelfth and thirteenth men.”
Finally, he stressed that “I'm feeling upset about losing the game the way it went. It wasn't a game that we should have lost like that. After their goal, we did things wrong that could have condemned us to a heavier defeat."
