Gómez: " We have our heads focused on this matchday"
The centre back looks at the midweek game against Rayo Vallecano
Espanyol centre back Sergi Gómez sat down on Tuesday to talk about matters surrounding the club, including addressing the upcoming Thursday night fixture against Rayo Vallecano at the RCDE Stadium.
“We have our heads focused on this matchday. We know that our fans will help us to achieve victory," he told RCD Espanyol TV.
“There are six finals left for us to get as high up the table as possible, and we start that run this Thursday. We all have to stick together and enjoy the remainder of this season."
"We had a great game against Rayo at Vallecas earlier this season, but we missed out due to some details. We are looking forward to having a great game for the fans."
At the Wanda Metropolitano, this past weekend, Atletico Madrid scored a winning goal thanks to a controversial penalty given against Raúl de Tomás. Gómez commented on the frustration he and his teammates had felt in that game.
“What has happened is done now. Everyone can give their opinion and give their version, but when a move has many points of view, it makes you wonder why some decisions are given and some aren't," he explained.
"VAR should have some thought given to it to avoid so many doubts. You can't help but look back and think that we have dropped points because of these decisions."
