Gómez looking forward to LaLiga return
The captain speaks on behalf of the squad
Three weeks on from their last fixture, due to the international break and the postponement of the game against Valencia, RCD Espanyol return to action this Saturday. Sergi Gómez talked about the importance of this weekend's game against Girona in a Thursday press conference.
“We are working to get the three points and have a good game in Girona,"he said.
“The team are aware of the importance of this part of the season before the Christmas break. I don't want to look any further ahead, but we want to have a good game, start winning away from home and achieve the objective that we have set ourselves," he stated.
“We have gone three weeks without playing and we miss it. We are really looking forward to competing. We know that it will be difficult, right from the start, but we have worked hard with the intention of winning."
The captain added that “we are not where we would like to be in the table, but we are aware of the importance of the games that are coming now. We have seven games before Christmas and know how important they are for getting to where we want to be.”
“We need to have balance and be a compact side: Both in attack and defence.”
