From the RCDE Academy to AFCON Champion
RCD Espanyol Academy graduate Wilfried Singo was victorious with Côte d'Ivoire
RCD Espanyol can proudly say that it produced an AFCON Champion when Côte D'Ivoire lifted Africa's continental trophy earlier this month.
Wilfried Singo, who was part of the triumphant Ivorian squad in the Africa Cup of Nations, was formed in the RCDE International Academy in Algeria between 2016 and 2017. Seven years on, the defender is an African champion with his country in their home tournament.
Following his stint at the white-and-blue academy, Singo returned to his native Côte D'Ivoire to continue his development with Association Sportive Denguélé. He then started his senior career in Serie A with Torino FC, signing for Ligue 1 side AS Monaco in August 2023.
Now 23-years-old, Singo's journey to becoming an AFCON champion with The Elephants began in the RCDE Academy, a testament to the RCD Espanyol methodology and commitment to youth football.
Congratulations, Wilfried!
