RCD Espanyol visit academies in Iraq
The visit serves to select 10 players to come to Barcelona

RCD Espanyol's Head of Football Programs, Albert Saus, recently traveled to Iraq to visit two of the club's three academies in the country: the RCDE Academy in Basra and the RCDE Academy in Baghdad.
During the visit, it continued to be clear that the academies not only offer high-level training thanks to the La21 methodology, but also share a feeling of belonging to the RCD Espanyol family. Being part of the RCD Espanyol Official Academy is an honor for everyone involved, which strengthens their connection with the club and those around it.
The visit to the RCDE Academy in Baghdad was used to select ten players who will represent the academy internationally, to demonstrate their talent and dedication in Barcelona at the 1900 Cup, which will be held at the Ciudad Deportiva Dani Jarque over Easter.
The RCDE Academy in Baghdad, founded in 2018, is a pioneer in Iraq, training more than 500 players each season. It has become a benchmark in the country, especially in the capital, thanks to its excellence in player development, organisational stability, and solid structure. The club have now expanded their presence in the country and have academies in Baghdad, Mosul, and Basra.
